                      July 5, 2007
PALESTINE LIBRARY TO OPEN AT AL-AWDA CENTER IN CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA
                    THE PALESTINE BOOK CENTER
Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition, is pleased to announce the
establishment of the Palestine Library, as resolved by the Fifth Annual
International Al-Awda Convention, held in Anaheim California, May 25-27,
2007. The new addition to Al-Awda Center will include a wide variety of
publications that deal with the struggle for Palestinian return and
liberation. The library will also serve as a repository of Al-Awda Center's
multi-media educational materials related to various aspects
of Palestine, its people and Arab culture.
The library is an important addition to the educational materials which are
                      available online via Al-Awda's websites.

Note for future: In conjunction with the creation of Al-Awda's Media
Center, and its upcoming newsletter, we will be featuring reviews and
analyses of books and papers from the Library.
A listing of books we currently have available is provided at http://www.al-awdacal.org/books.html
Among the new books added recently to our collection is:
The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe (2006, Oneworld Pubns Ltd).
In this excellent, well-researched book, historian Ilan Pappe demonstrates
that the forced expulsion of more than three quarters of a million
Palestinians between 1948-49 was part of a long-standing Zionist plan to
impose an exclusive Jewish state in Palestine. Pappe provides a detailed
account of the direct role of Zionist terror groups, such as Haganah, in the
demolition and depopulation of hundreds of villages, and the expulsion of
hundreds of thousands of indigenous native Palestinian Arabs. Pappe shows
the clear relationship of these acts to the accepted international and UN
definitions of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. Focusing
primarily on Plan D (Dalet, in Hebrew), which was developed by Ben Gurion
with other Zionist leaders on March 10, 1948 in the "Red House" in Tel-Aviv,
Pappe demonstrates how ethnic cleansing was not a circumstance of war as
falsely claimed by Zionist propaganda, but rather a deliberate goal of
combat for Zionist military units led by Ben Gurion, the architect of
this ethnic cleansing who later became Israel's first prime minister. This
must-read book provides important inroads into the recent history of
Palestine and the ethnic cleansing that continues unabated till today.
Pappe calls for the unconditional return of all Palestinian refugees to
their homes and land of origin.
To order a copy of The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe and any
