Israel's right wing Zionists oppress Palestinians

To the Editor: In regard to the letter by George E. Rubin ("Leftist elites betrayed Israel," Nov.16), I would reply to Mr. Rubin by saying to him it is insane to compare the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasir Arafat, to Hitler.

I would agree if he would have said that even with the lesson of the Holocaust, most Zionist-Jews have learned nothing. The right wing Zionist-Jews should know that during the Hitler regime they were the ones oppressed. Now they are the oppressors in the current violence in the Middle East.

You cannot call Barak a leftist after giving the green light to the war criminal Ariel Sharon to provoke the recent massacres in Palestine. Therefore it makes Barak a right wing leader of the Israeli Zionist State. To call the Oslo accords "suicidal for Israel" is not true at all. It is in favor of Israel and especially of the endless developments of illegal settlements built around the Palestinian Authority territory.

When Mr. Rubin mentions Israel "giving" land to the Palestinians, he is incorrect. Israel has never given anything to the Palestinians. If anything, they have "given back" what historically and rightfully belongs to the Palestinians. Israel has repeatedly violated International Law and U.N. Resolution 194 stating the Palestinian refugees' right of return to their homeland.

I would like to commend the real left Jews who support the Palestinians in their self determination and their inalienable right of return to an Independent Palestinian State. These people in my opinion are real Jews and not Zionists. The world must know that Judaism does not preach Zionism, which is an atheistic belief. Arabs and real progressive Jews alike are against Zionism.

The destruction of Zionism will end all wars and Arabs and Jews will live peacefully in the Middle East region. I salute the left progressive Jews for standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people and standing against the recent slow genocide and atrocities that Israel has inflicted upon the Palestinian civilians in the recent uprising.
