On Sunday May 15, 2011 all of Al-Awda’s chapters in Southern California will be taking part in a demo at the Zionist Consulate in Los Angeles starting at noon. This action is part of world wide demos to mark the 63rd year of Al-Nakba* and in support of Maseerat Al-Awda (The Return March) by Palestinian refugees to their homes and lands. This march will be taking place in areas in Palestine and from the nearby Arab countries on that day.

*Al-Nakba (Arabic for Catastrophe) refers to the mass expulsion and dispossession of the Palestinian people from their own homeland which began in 1947. More than 500 Palestinian villages were destroyed and greater than three-quarters of a million Palestinians were driven from their homes and lands by the Zionist colonization program, beginning a process of ethnic cleansing that continues unabated to this day.
